Mountain Stream

This beautifully illustrated children's book would make an excellent gift for a child, grandchild, nephew or niece. It would make good reading for a child before or after one takes a child on an excursion to look at life in a small stream.

The book describes with words and pictures the life in and around a mountain stream in the Appalachian Mountains. At a child's level it describes the changes in a stream and the life in a steam as one moves downstream from its headwaters. It talks about our relationship with streams and the need to treat streams with care in order to preserve the resource and its benefits to us and living things for many, many years.

The book ends with an exercise in which young people can identify the animals they see in pictures.
