LMRCC Fifth Annual Meeting to be Held in Memphis, TN


Personnel of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation are preparing to co-host the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Lower Mississippi River Conservation Committee. A $20 registration fee will be charged for the meeting which will be held April 14-15, 1998 at the Holiday Inn Memphis East in Memphis, Tennessee.

Steve Ellis and Steve Cobb of the Mississippi Valley Division of the Army Corps of Engineers will be the guest speakers at the 1998 LMRCC meeting. Their topics of discussion will be the Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Master Plan and the potential for integrating aquatic resource restoration activities into it. Ted Crowell will discuss the essential components of the LMRCC Aquatic Resource Management Plan and the need to integrate them into the Corps’ Master Plan process. An open forum will be conducted on how the LMRCC Aquatic Resource Management Plan Committee can interface effectively with the Corps of Engineers during development of the Master Plan.

Fisheries and Water Quality Technical Section meetings will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, and run through the end of the day. Dinner Tuesday night will be at one Memphis’ world-famous barbeque meccas. The LMRCC Executive Committee Meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 15.

Any participant wishing to make a presentation at the annual meeting should submit a one page summary to the Lower Mississippi River Conservation Committee Coordinator no later than March 14, 1998.
